Chunk and Gruber meet for the first time.
FADE IN:
INT. KITCHEN – NIGHT
It is a large middle class kitchen. Overhead lights shine on hardwood floors, granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances. There is a rectangular dining room table, set with flowers and cloth napkins, a brick fireplace, and a classic painting above the mantel.
GRUBER, the dog, lies in his bed looking at his humans, the two shadowy figures sitting at the counter.
GRUBER
I dog. I Gruber. I love mom and dad. They do not fur. I fur. That okay.
CHUNK, the rabbit, noses open side door. GRUBER lifts his head.
GRUBER
What that?
GRUBER stands up, looks at his humans, and slowly walks toward CHUNK.
CHUNK
Where carrot?
GRUBER
That fur thing.
CHUNK notices GRUBER.
CHUNK
What that?
CHUNK freezes and sniffs the air as GRUBER loses his caution and runs toward the rabbit.
GRUBER
HI FUR THING!!!!!
CHUNK
WHAT THAT? I HIDE!
CHUNK hops around, trying to go back the way he came, but the door has closed behind him. CHUNK digs at the threshold but it’s clear he’s stuck.
GRUBER
HI! I GRUBER! YOU FRIEND?
CHUNK ignores GRUBER and blinks aggressively.
GRUBER
BE FRIEND NOW.
GRUBER sniffs CHUNK. GRUBER finds something he likes under CHUNK’s floppy ear and sniffs more aggressively.
CHUNK
That ear mine.
CHUNK backs up against the door, folded up defensively. GRUBER crouches playfully, wagging his tail.
GRUBER
Fur friend ear smell good.
FADE OUT.
