About

farmantic mama in the orchardMy name is Gwen. I live in a 260 year old farm house in New Hampshire.

The house is a beautifully boned Georgian farmhouse disguised by cheap white vinyl siding and obscured by an overgrown 4-acre lot and a dilapidated barn. The house’s original, almost square, shape has become a very long rectangle with the addition of an updated kitchen, entryway, and two car garage.

The front of the house is mostly unaltered from its original design. A porch stretches the entire length of the house, its floorboards peeling red stain. The flowerbeds are unorganized and, while there is some pale green grass struggling for life, the dominant horticultural elements are spectacularly tall weeds and exposed dirt.

I live with my husband, Matt. Matt quit his job to start a home repair business. He can make anything. Matt sews his own Halloween costumes. We are a good team because I imagine things and he executes them. We work together to improve our home and land.
